ABOUT US:   Hard Mule Seltzer Co. (HMSC) is a craft producer of high-quality unique hard seltzers based in Akron, OH.  Our beverage is made in the sprit of the classic Moscow Mule cocktail, but remixed as a light, crisp and refreshing hard seltzer.  With a product line that encompases multiple ABVs, flavors, and package sizes, we are well positioned to grow share in the craft seltzer market niche and are looking for energetic and entrepreneurial team members to help expand our presence throughout the OH market.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

You will be expected to maintain strong relationships with our current accounts, plus aggressively prospect for new business. We expect our sales representative to use reports and directives to execute our comprehensive strategic sales plans, be responsible for all sales activities in assigned territory, develop strong relationships and work strategically with our business partners in the wholesale channel, utilize CRM software and other technology, track sales-related expenses, encourage repeat business, create new business, provide brand support through market activities and educational events, attend company meetings/events as requested, and conduct your work week in the most efficient way possible. While this is a fun and dynamic industry, we expect sales representatives to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times as you are representing the Hard Mule brand.

 

PREFERRED CAPABILITIES

  • Self-Starter will be based in, and work predominantly in the Cleveland/Lorain or Akron/Youngstown areas

  • Ability to represent Hard Mule Seltzer responsibly and professionally at all times as an extension of the brand

  • Knowledge and appreciation for the craft beverage industry and the hospitality industry; knowledge of the three-tier system is a plus

  • Excellent organizational, presentation, communication, and problem-solving skills 

  • Time management and prioritization skills

  • A strong work ethic when working independently and as part of a team to achieve company-wide goals  

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to work with a variety of personalities, seeking common ground and understanding

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office, comfort with various software programs and databases; experience with a CRM is a plus

  • The ability to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment 

  • Can be available to work as needed based on account contact schedules

  • Able to work a flexible schedule outside of regular business hours, including some nights and weekends

  • Ability to travel as required for both sales and related events

  • A clean driving record is strongly preferred

 

RESULTS WE ARE SEEKING

  • Allignment with the Hard Mule vision, principles, and values    

  • Speak with intelligence and passion to the public about our brand, our culture, and our products   

  • Adhere to state and federal alcohol laws about the sale, merchandise, and promotion of beverage alcohol products    

  • Consistently meet the monthly sales goals set forth by management

  • Participates in weekly and monthly meetings relevant to the job position (in person and/or virtual)

  • Inform management of necessary training, equipment needs, or product issues within the job position    

  • Prepare and deliver requested/required sales documentation by the provided deadlines

  • Follow an efficient schedule including a daily route and weekly route of sales calls

  • Maintain and seek new opportunities to increase sales and presence in distribution accounts within assigned territory

  • Maximize Point of Sale exposure in our accounts

  • Set up, execute, and participate in in-store promotions  and special events with retailers

  • Keep up-to-date notes on accounts’ information, purchasing habits, goals, and contacts in a CRM program (training provided)

  • Ability to use a smartphone

  • Adhere to company-wide safety practices and standards

 

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree

  • A few years of experience in a selling environment or hospitality setting

  • Bonus points for having experience in beverage alcohol, distribution, food, and/or hospitality

  • Knowledge of beer, the craft beverage industry, production of beverage alcohol of any kind

 

PHYSICAL ASPECTS YOU MIGHT ENCOUNTER

  • Frequent car travel

  • Occasional lifting of items ranging from 25-50 lbs

  • Tasting of alcoholic beverages for quality control

  • Regular visits to bars, restaurants, liquor stores, and other hospitality establishments

  • Installation of marketing materials which could require using stools or ladders, lifting, bending, and stretching

  • Being present in person in one place for multiple hours in accordance with branded event guidelines or details of promotions

 

HOURS AND PAY

$18.00/hour, approx 20 hours per week.

Performance based bonus payouts each quarter based on achieving company sales goals. There is potential for earning more with variable performance measures. 

This position is a 1099 position (independent contractor) with no benefits provided.
